A smiling face is an Earth-like star
A frown can't bring out the beauty that you are
Love within, and you'll begin smiling
There are brighter days ahead (for you)
Don't mess your face up with bitter tears
'Cause life is gonna be what it is
It's okay, please don't delay from smiling
There are brighter days ahead
A smiling face you don't have to see
'Cause it's as joyful as you’ll always be
Love within, you'll begin smiling
There are brighter days ahead (come back)
Love's not competing; it's on your side
You're in life's picture, so why must you cry?
For a friend, please begin to smile, please
There are brighter days ahead

2022’s LetterOne Rising Stars Jazz Award winner, guitarist Dan Wilson began making waves through his work with Christian
McBride and Joey DeFrancesco. Wilson performed on DeFrancesco’s GRAMMY®-nominated Project Freedom album before releasing his own label debut in 2021. His musical identity, shaped by everything from gospel and blues to jazz and hip-hop, makes him truly a Rising Star to watch!...more
I adore this new album, which one moment is swinging and the next moment contemplative. The listener can easily pick out all the individual players without any sense of tedious turn-taking, as the sound seems particularly crisp. The tap-dancing doesn't stand out; it just sounds like more percussion. Alison Chaiken
We turned on to Emma Jean at Monterey Jazz Fest, and she's the reason I went from 'ehhh I'm not sure I like Acid Jazz and I sure as hell don't like fusion" to "what the hell is *this awesome galactic brilliance?!* A rare talent and a damn fine slab of wax that I have on heavy rotation. I love many tracks including 'Spectre', and i wonder to myself how much it owes to Kate Bush's spectral "Watching You Without Me." jaxers
